Freedom From Fear

On Feb 1, 2021, the military in Myanmar staged a coup and basic human rights were stripped away overnight, and the people of Myanmar were plunged into darkness once again. Growing up under a military dictatorship, I knew very well what living in fear and oppression was like.

Two weeks later, I found myself attending my first ever protest in front of the UN in NYC, 8000+ miles away from home because I know I have the privilege here to do so without putting my life in danger. This isn’t the case for the 54 million people in Myanmar right now, who are scared and tired, but still fighting back with every ounce of hope they have. It’s given me hope—hope that maybe this time, the rest of the world will finally pay attention and that my generation will be the last to experience this.

Here’s how you can help support Myanmar.
